Frank L. Baker III
Frank L. Baker III has practiced law as a commercial real estate attorney for more than 40 years, serving on the managing committee of the international law firm Whitman & Ransom and then as a partner at the Connecticut-based law firm Robinson & Cole LLP. Described as “an icon of the industry” in the Chambers US Guide to the Leading Lawyers for Business, Mr. Baker has held the Martindale-Hubbell® AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating™ for more than 25 years. A Yale graduate, Mr. Baker is the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal for his service as a military policeman in Vietnam.

Frank L. Baker has practiced law as a commercial real estate attorney for 40 years, first with an international New York City law firm and then with a major New England regional law firm. He also served on the managing committees of both firms. Mr. Baker graduated from Yale University in 1968, with honors in political science. Inducted into the U.S. Army after his first year at the University of Virginia Law School, he served as a military policeman in Vietnam (receiving a Bronze Star Medal) and returned to law school in 1971.
During law school, he was a member of the Virginia Law Review and graduated in 1973. He is admitted to the Connecticut Bar (1973) and the New York Bar (1988). Mr. Baker practiced with the Connecticut office of the NY law firm of Whitman & Ransom until July 1995. He then joined the Connecticut law firm of Robinson & Cole LLP. Mr. Baker retired from the active practice of law as a partner at Robinson & Cole at the end of 2010 and remained Of Counsel there until the end of last year. He is also currently a real estate consultant, as Manager of Custom Real Property Solutions LLC.
During his legal career, Mr. Baker was listed in The Best Lawyers in America and designated as a Super Lawyer® in Connecticut, the New York area and New England. In the international publication Chambers USA Guide to the Leading Lawyers for Business, he was described by interviewed clients as an “able and experienced” expert, who impresses clients with “his creative thinking around problems” and as “an icon of the industry.” He has held the Martindale-Hubbell AV® Preeminent Peer Review Rating™ for over 25 years.
Mr. Baker is also a Lifetime Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Association, and has served as President of the Yale Club of Stamford, a delegate to the Association of Yale Alumni, and as Chair of the Connecticut Chapter of the Counselors of Real Estate. The Counselors of Real Estate is an invitation-only worldwide real estate industry organization. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
